Chemically, it is isopropanol (propan-2-ol) - a polar, highly volatile solvent. It acts as a highly effective agent for removing oils, grease, rosin, service markers, and residues of thermal compound. Thanks to its property of rapid evaporation, it does not introduce conductive deposits and is chemically neutral toward commonly used materials in electronics - i.e., chemically compatible with materials commonly used in housings, PCBs, and connectors. It’s a precise, efficient cleaning agent for servicing electronic devices.

In day-to-day Lanberg installation practice, IPA shows its versatility: it cleans printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies, removes adhesive residues and dust from server fans, degreases heatsinks before reapplying fresh paste, prepares fiber ferrules before fusion splicing or connector assembly, and also maintains optical equipment - camera lenses, sights, binoculars - as well as mechanisms in laser printer cartridges. In optics, electrotechnics, and the precision industry, it has wide and common applications, and it’s useful for detailing front panels and enclosures. With isopropyl alcohol, you can prep surfaces for labels, gaskets, or new tapes.

A highly flammable liquid and vapor - work away from open flames and ignition sources, ensure good ventilation, and use goggles and gloves. The preparation causes eye irritation; do not inhale vapors and do not ingest. Always disconnect equipment from power and discharge ESD before application. Store in the original, tightly closed container in a dry, ventilated place, away from sunlight and heat; do not exceed 30 °C and protect from electrostatic discharge. These rules - together with the recommendation to use only by trained personnel - follow from safety data sheets for this class of preparations.
