Lanberg DSP2-1005 is a small size unmanaged desktop switch, equipped with 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The device is small and handy and works on a plug-and-play basis. The switch provides switching function support for 5 RJ-45 10/100/1000 Mbps ports along with automatic connection negotiation and MDI-MDIX support.
The distinctive feature that differentiates the DSP1 series from the DSP2 is the use of a universal 12-volt power supply, used in many other surveillance, CCTV, alarm, security and IT devices. Thanks to this solution, the end user, ISP or installer is not forced to use the factory power supply, allowing them complete freedom on how power will be routed to the switch using this voltage. The benefits of using 12 volts include:
- Using an adapter / splitter with a 12-volt jack, the DSP2 switch can be powered by the customer's PoE system along with data delivery. To do this, use another switch or device that supports the passive PoE standard with 12 V power transmission, and connect one of its LAN ports with an Ethernet cable to the adapter. In the absence of such a port on the power device, use a PoE injector in addition. Connect the RJ-45 output jack of the splitter with a cable to the DSP2 port, and connect the jack output to the power input of the switch (diameter 5.5 * 2.1 mm). This allows for economy, unification and application of the solution in hard-to-reach places by sending data and power through the same Ethernet cable.
- 12V voltage is present in alarm installations and older CCTV solutions. In such cases, a collective power supply is used, which eliminates the need for an additional power supply and allows easy replacement of the main module in case of failure,
- There are many manufacturers on the market offering 12-volt buffer power supplies that offer a cable with a jack connector. Such small devices provide power to small devices like routers and switches. The 12 V used in the DSP2 series makes it possible to connect all sorts of buffer power supplies to keep the device working after a power outage,
- Increased stability of operation and better current efficiency of the device through the use of higher voltage.
Lanberg switch is ideal for home use, thanks to its very small size and the use of passive cooling. The black color scheme and elegant slim housing, make the device fit into almost any interior. The device is suitable for office applications, including SOHO and SMB. The switch also provides adequate performance to meet user requirements in the switch segment.
The function of automatically recognizing and adapting to the type of network cable to be connected (straight or crossed), eliminates the need for only one type of cabling, as well as uplink ports, allowing to reduce unnecessary costs at the same time. The switch supports half-duplex and full-duplex modes for connections between devices. Instead, the flow control function allows you to control the flow of data thus avoiding port congestion in case one of the receiving devices is not able to receive enough of the received data.
Lanberg switch is a guarantee of a combination of high quality, automation and a number of functionalities, ensuring the operation of the device without redundant user intervention.
