POWER SUPPLY IS NOT A PROBLEM - SIMPLE AND FUNCTIONAL LANBERG POE SWITCH

PoE switch is an indispensable active device in any network structure, using power transmission through structured cabling. The device is dedicated to all installations: home, business, low-current, monitoring, IP, VoIP, cable TV networks, and in particular will find use in alarm, fire and access control infrastructures. In addition to the primary function of the switch, i.e. handling the traffic of Ethernet frames between ports, it additionally provides power to each device in the PoE standard - 802.3af and at. This makes it possible to provide up to 60 watts of total power to devices. And all this together with simultaneous data transmission to them.

This saves resources, space and the time it would take to install a separate electrical and network installation. This is especially important if the network is dispersed and its end devices do not have access to a power source, even more so if they are mounted outdoors.

A NO-COMPROMISE SOLUTION - REAL POE BUDGET: 60 IN

The switch is equipped with a total of 6 ports, including 4 PoE+ ports and 2 Uplink ports. Thoughtful design and attention to component quality provides the user with up to 60 W of total real power for end devices, which means the ability to connect simultaneously:

  • 4 802.3af devices (max. 15 W per port) or,
  • 2 802.3at devices (max. 30 per port),

The remaining 2 ports (Uplink) are dedicated to exchange data traffic between the 4 PoE+ ports and external devices. In the case of monitoring/control systems, this is particularly useful, as it allows the user to simultaneously rip camera recordings on the DVR and share them further, e.g. on the local network or the Internet.

INTELLIGENT POE PORT DISCONNECT FUNCTION

In most switches on the market with a small number of ports, it is not quite clear how it will behave when one of the connected devices exceeds the available PoE budget. Will the switch shut down the random port? Or the one that exceeds the budget? Or maybe the last one connected? If so, which one after a power outage will be the first one and which one will be the last one connected? The situation becomes even more complicated if more than 1 port exceeds the available power.

Lanberg in the RS series switches introduced an innovative solution, which, through the simplicity of the principle of operation, eliminates any doubt about the mechanics of the ports.

At the moment when the PoE budget is exceeded (e.g. by a device connected to port 1), the switch will start disconnecting PoE ports starting from the highest numbering until the sum of loads does not exceed the available budget; keeping the operation of the remaining ports intact. Importantly, those that are disconnected will be, in effect, alternately turned off and on.

The feature is primarily dedicated to demanding applications that emphasize security and continuity of operation, where some devices must operate continuously regardless of the situation. In such cases, Lanberg switches will allow the user to protect sensitive devices by connecting them most to the lowest ports.

EXTEND MODE -. UP TO 250 METRES

Standard switches, according to the standard, provide the ability for devices to operate up to 100 meters on a single section of cable. However, sometimes it turns out that due to the extensive backbone network and complex environment, a custom solution that goes beyond the standard is required during the development of cabling and networking. In the case of monitoring solutions, this is a fairly common problem, most often due to the excessive distance between the distribution device and the end device.

Lanberg switches have a feature that allows data (max. 10 Mbps) and PoE+ power transmission up to 250 m on a single cable run. Simply switch the button to the "PoE+ Extend 250 m" position on the housing to ensure operation over a longer distance.

The solution was introduced for monitoring, or IP and access control systems, especially if the end devices are located outdoors without the possibility of installing additional network distribution points

4 kV SURGE PROTECTION

The switch itself, as well as the devices connected to it, are repeatedly exposed to various hazards, including power discharges that can flow through both power and network cables.

With the safety of the devices as well as their users in mind, Lanberg has equipped the switch with an integrated discharge protection circuit, guaranteeing up to 4 kV protection for all ports, effectively reducing their damage due to voltage surges.

Under standard conditions, network operation will continue uninterrupted, the switch will continue working without any interruptions, and the user gains the safety of the device's operation, as well as that of the infrastructure

INSTALLATION SET INCLUDED - EARS UP TO 10" & 19"

The RS switch series is characterized not only by the quality of workmanship, simplicity of use, functionality of the device, but also complementarity in terms of mounting and supplied accessories where possible.

Most of the available small switches on the market are supplied for free-standing or 19" standard mounting. Some manufacturers forget about users who want to use their products in smaller home or SOHO installations. And especially where the switches have a small number of ports, and thus a small form factor. Thus, they can be mounted not only in cabinets with the mentioned 19" size, but also in those smaller, such as 10".

Lanberg, as one of the few, has introduced a set of accessories for versatile mounting of its switches. The RSFE-4P-2FE-60 comes with separate mounting ears for 10" and 19" cabinets, as well as a set of mounting screws. This allows wider application and greater freedom of installation of RS series switches
